Garden Journal (Day 113) – Disease and Frustration
The squash has been hit with powdery mildew. 90% of my squash plant leaves had to be cut away. Cucumbers still look manageable with minor mildew. Also got a case of bacterial wilt on one of the cucumber vines…may still be able to save the vine.

Garden Journal (Day 106) – Full Speed Ahead!
With the heat of the summer upon us, everything is in full-swing. I’m picking vegetables on a daily basis and eating two cucumbers a day (at least).

Burpee Garden Trellis (netting) – Avoid this product!
The netting I bought for my trellises is crap…half way through the season and it’s disintegrating! Lesson learned for next season.

Garden Journal (Day 98) – Pale, Yellowish Cucumber Leaves
Slicing cucumber plants in the container are starting to turn a pale, yellowish color, more in the lower leaves. Too much watering or nitrogen deficiency.

Garden Journal (Day 94) – Oh Snap!
The nylon netting on my pickling cucumbers started to snap today, so I had to do some emergency repairs. Looks like I’ll need something stronger for next season.

Garden Journal (Day 88) – Things are Progressing
The garden is progressing nicely. I’m seeing vegetable growth on all plants. I’ll be picking green beans today along with several banana peppers!

Garden Journal (Day 78) – Black Swallowtail Caterpillars!
I found about 15 Black Swallowtail Caterpillars in the garden. Luckily, they were still small in size, so not too much damage was done. Other than that, the garden is looking good!
